At North View ENT we commonly see patients who are having difficulty with their tonsils and adenoids.
Most people won’t notice their tonsils except for the odd sore throat usually due to a viral infection.
However for some patients, tonsils and adenoids (the tonsils behind the nose) can become a source of difficulty.
In some cases they are a source of infection leading to Recurrent Tonsillitis and Paediatric Chronic Rhinosinusitis in children, and in other cases Obstructive Sleep Apnoea or Sleep Disordered Breathing may develop due to airway obstruction caused by the tonsils or adenoids.
Adenotonsillectomy (removal of tonsils and adenoids) or Tonsillectomy (removal of tonsils only) are a common ENT surgical procedure.
